Apple has boosted distribution of the Mac in Ireland following the appointment of BPI Telecom as distributor and Expert Ireland as a reseller for the product. This will boost Apple Mac’s penetration into Expert outlets around Ireland.
Phase one will cover Arnott’s in Dublin city centre as well as Drogheda, Gorey, Mullingar, Naas, Tullamore and Wexford.
Expert Ireland is the largest Irish owned electrical retailer in the country with almost 70 stores. It is part of an international group with revenues of over €16 billion and over 7,400 stores in 22 countries.
“The Apple Mac has a dedicated and loyal fan base and we are delighted to boost the availability of this iconic product throughout the country,” commented Ciaran O’Reilly, CEO, Expert Group.
“We have implemented full training for Expert staff so existing and new Apple Mac fans can be assured of a complete service across the country,” added Fergus Sweeney, CEO, BPI Telecom. He added that the Apple Mac has built an enthusiastic global fan base across consumer, business and educational groups due to its ease of use, powerful operating system and sleek looks.
Statistics from Irish web analytics firm StatCounter find that despite the recent launch of Microsoft’s new PC operating system Windows 7, the US market share of Mac’s OS X actually grew from 11.29% to 11.87%.
