Charity
BPI has partnered with 4 charities, Temple Street Children's University Hospital, Meningitis Research Foundation, IRFU Charitable Trust and Sightsavers to offer them a fundraising solution. We have put together a dedicated team who specialise in developing and implementing unique campaigns to aid the collection of old and used mobile phones. In addition we provide the collateral in terms of recycling bags, collection boxes, posters as well as the manpower to promote the appeal by way of account management, administration, telesales and telemarketing.
The phones are received into BPI where they are graded, the majority are refurbished and sold on to emerging markets. The balance are stripped down to their individual components, smelted and recycled.
Each year, almost 125,000 sick children from all over Ireland are cared for in Temple Street Children’s University Hospital. The aim of the fundraising office is to help sick children by making their stay in hospital less distressing for them and their families. This is achieved by funding new medical equipment, developing new services, funding research and developing new treatment facilities.
One method of fundraising lies in the collection of old mobile phones, ipods and used printer cartridges which is enabled by BPI Telecom.
Meningitis Research Foundation has enjoyed working in partnership with BPI over the past 2 years in the recycling of mobile phones. Our members and supporters and especially those whose lives have been affected by the disease are grateful for BPI’s involvement in the work of the Charity. Not only has the Company contributed financially to research and awareness of meningitis and septicaemia but it has embraced our vision of “a world free from meningitis and septicaemia” Their corporate responsibility is to be admired.

“We in the I.R.F.U. Charitable Trust are delighted to be teaming up with BPI Telecom to raise essential funds for our seriously injured players. BPI Telecom are renowned for their Charitable work throughout the year and they have great experience in recycling mobile phone units to the African Continent. The Charitable Trust is honoured to be associated with such a venture and we would encourage anybody who has any connection to rugby either by playing, supporting or administrating to support this venture on our behalf.”
